  1. Sometimes life gets in the way of a great idea and after a lot of pre-launch preparation for Get Net Zero, in February 2020 Covid-19 changed the world and we put new project development on the back burner to focus on core projects and deal with all the new challenges of running a business in a pandemic. On the plus side, it gave more time to pilot the approach with more businesses and also to see how the Net Zero agenda progressed, especially with the focus of COP 26 showing up where more work is needed to reduce emissions to reasonable levels.

    It's good to be back.

  2. Getting a project of this scope off the ground takes time and the involvement of many people to achieve the scale of impact that we are aiming for. We will launch the full website in November 2020 to coincide with the COP26 climate conference taking place in Scotland.

We are looking to make contact with anyone interested in being part of Get Net Zero, either as a member, as a delivery partner, as a funder or as an organisation looking for a way to help organisations in their area, sector or supply chain that will result in actual Carbon savings. We are particularly keen to hear from organisations that have declared a climate emergency and are putting in place plans to achieve net zero.

We know that are other projects that do similar things to Get Net Zero. We don’t intend to compete with existing projects and see Get Net Zero as a stepping-stone to other projects for those that want something more in depth in the future.

Get Net Zero is not a way for organisations to buy their way out of their climate impact through Carbon offsetting. Where an organisation has done everything possible to reduce its own Greenhouse Gas Emissions, we can link them up with genuine audited Carbon offsetting projects but we do so on the basis that we will not derive an income from this activity.
